Considering Identity and Space Personal Opinions.

Considering what is identity and how it is constructed?
Summative Piece

-How do you see yourself?
Well in a world full of judgment and desire it’s hard to find your own personal style without going into the stereotypical trends. The way I view myself changes constantly not only through my appearance and style but body and self-confidence. Yes most girls would rather be skinny than fat, and have melons for boobs instead of a fried eggs but from being at university anybody can feel comfortable in their own skin. I’ve personally realised this and being comfortable in my own identity. Is it ironic that when I was just a little 2 year old girl, I played the part of the pretty duckling in the ballet performance of the ugly duckling. To then being  the ugly duckling in year 9. I’m telling you I looked like my cousins brother in the standard family school photo. Eurgh/- the dread that I get when everyone sees it. Major puppy fat, low confidence, thin hair and a full fringe that never should have been cut. I’ve always had low self-confidence when it came to my body shape. Okay I’m not ten tonne tess but in the fashion industry your always criticized in what you wear and look like in regard to your size. Since coming to university my confidence has grown because I women out there who can show to the world that beautiful is curvy. Strong independent curvaceous women inpsire me, I take energy and comfort from the fact that they view themselves so positively, take risks and have courage. I have admiration for them but at the same time I can use their drive which I feel mirrors my own, as reference for my own fashion career but personal happiness. Coming to university has helped me grow in style and confidence.
-Is identity constructed and interpreted by the self or the onlooker?
This Question is highly all about opinion. Everyone sees each style differently to our own. With new trends and styles we have each season, everyone has opinions on that. A constant cycle of opinion and desire.

-What Identities are drawn to you?
The characteristics I’m personally drawn to when thinking about fashion, is the look, the texture, the fit and most importantly the shape of the garments. Body type and shape plays a large part in me buying items to fit my figure and shape. So the identities that are drawn to me can be expressed through celebrity style icons and fashion icons. Simple dark shade with tailored curvy nature are what I tend to go for. I love all of the Kardashian look and even including the younger two as I think there’s is developing in a way I like to base my own style.

-How do you feel certain spaces, environments and ambiances affect the way we look and behave?
I’m quite a shy person in all honesty but in a different awkward situation I always seem to talk too much to compensate. I do think in different situation’s people do act in different ways to make other people perceive them in a certain way. If the ambiance is a particular way then that would make me feel a certain way as every aspect of an environment reflects an emotion on to us.’-What spaces make you behave a certain way?
For instance in a fashion store there will be a ambiance to reflect the brand and its identity within the space used.

Quote of the Day

I dont do fashion I AM FASHION-QUOTE.
When it comes to identity , fashion is just that. Fashion exsists because of style. And style exsist because of Identity. You identify with a style and a fashion with trend. Trend is an ongoing cycle that exists because of different styles throughout various eras. We create our own style by our own outlook of our own identity and this quote sums it up perfectly.

Make Up Treat

By recommendation of a friend of mine i wanted to break away a little bit from M.A.C makeup to maybe a cheaper version. The great thing about KIKO make up its affordable and decent produce.

The Primers i was keen to try out as i've never found one i've particularly liked.
I like the fact that they are different for different areas of the facial skin.
Eye base primer is tinted so it has a base of colour that would match your skin tone.
It blends perfectly with the natural colours of your face whatever shade.
The range of makeup is specifically made up to different ranges of skin
type to help you find your correct shade.

Hair Care Crush AVEDA

Because I've recently been working in my local Aveda salon specialist on reception I've been intrigued by the selection of body care products that the brand supplies. Yes products are expensive but there carefully configured into specific products that can benefit different types of hair and skin to make you feel the best you can!.

Photography- Myself for the salon PROMO CAMPAIGN

I've really been inspired to how big a brand can get. A global company that's Vision is connecting Beauty, Environment and Well Being. There mission which is instigated throughout all salon and salon reps/stylists. It is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society, they strive to set and example for environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world.
Damage Remedy Shampoo & Conditioner

They are the :ART & SCIENCE OF PURE FLOWER AND PLANT ESSENCES.
They believe in treating ourselves, each other, and the planet with care and respect.
They believe social responsibility is there responsibility.
They believe ecological and profit goals are mutually achievable.
They believe their authenticity and experience are their points of difference.

I personally think that with being in an Aveda salon that you get to experience first hand the products. Seeing the satisfaction on clients faces when they known there not chemically harming their hair and helping the environment whilst feeling great!. Client satisfaction is a high priority in any brand through promotion and communication.

I've recently been trying different Aveda products such as the damage remedy shampoo and conditioner which i would highly recommend. Even though there expensive products there good quality and natural plant extracts rather than chemcially engineered fake products. Also the Phomollient styling foam and the Air Force Control spray i think are the two best products i've ever used to style my hair.

NYFW Diane Von Furstenberg

Diane Von Furstenberg

Celebrating 40 years in Fashion!

Through the entire collection of her spring/summer 2014 you could see her trademark wrap dress, but the collection items that stood out were the dramatic simplistic maxi dresses playing on the fact that they could be evening gowns or coverups made the wearability factor stylish and easy to pull off.

Wether it be a multitude of colour in a soft natural pattern or a deep royal blue standing alone, all of Diane Von Furstenberg's dresses are unique and feminine.
